In honour of the president elect [16 Nov 2008|05:26pm]

I'd been thinking about posting Heaven 17's "We Don't Need This Fascist Groove Thing" (which namechecked Ronnie Reagan when he was president elect), but listening to some old Stax/Volt goodies at the gym today, I heard the Staple Singers' Long Walk to D.C. which I thought more appropriate. Enjoy.

i feel like this is the wrong place to ask but i will just go ahead and ask because i am so sick and tired of hearing the crap they play at the place i go to exercise.

so, good catchy, upbeat, energetic and fun songs with an awesome riff/beat, please? :) i'm also in the mood for music from the 70's and 80's (You Spin Me Right Round, Let's Dance, Edge of Seventeen, etc).

I can't believe... [24 Mar 2007|09:12am]

It's taken 25 years to figure this out. Back in the day my local new wave station, KROQ, played Tim Curry's I Do The Rock (from the 1979 LP Fearless) with great regularity. I was well amused, but mostly by all the name checking. It wasn"t until downloading it last week that I realised it was about cocaine.Collapse ) Feeling sort of silly to be honest.

It's also got some fantastic saxophone work. Anyway, you can check it out for yourself here. (rs)

Does anybody have a copy of "En P'tit Boggie" by La Bottine Souriante? Kind of strange, I know, but I'd appreciate it!
